Hello good people, a little research I have conducted on Cold Water vs Hot Water to increase your awareness on the subject

Benefits of warm water
1. Relieves nasal congestion – Hot water by sip increased nasal mucus velocity from 6.2 to 8.4 mm per min In comparison to cold water which significantly decreased the nasal mucus velocity from 7.3 to 4.5 mm per min
2. Aids digestion – hydrates GI organs as Water moves through GI tract
3. Calms central nervous system – helps you calm down throughout the day and feel less aches and pains
4. Helps relieve constipation – Helps intestines contract therefor helps bowel movement
5. Improves circulation – Similarly to hot baths, it widens blood vessels, making it easier for nutrients and air to reach cells.
6. Can decrease stress levels – As a result of improving central nervous system functions
7. Can help reduce toxins – As you sweat you get rid of toxins
8. Helps relieve symptoms of achalasia – According to research of 12 achalasia diagnosed patients

Cons
1. Could come in the way of staying hydrated as it decreases thirst – So if you decide to drink warm water be aware that you should drink more than your thirst requires you to
2. Could promote heatstroke as compared to cold water – Gets absorbed slower and decreases thirst, therefor might cause an overall smaller consumption of water promoting a heatstroke.

Benefits of cold water
1. Is good during workout – helps maintain low body core temperature and after workout – helps lower body temperature post workout and helps drink more water
2. Combats heat stroke – When it is extremely hot, cold water gets absorbed faster by the body than hot water therefor helps prevent heat stroke.
Cons
1. Contracts your blood vessel – solidifies fat in the blood vessels
2. Shouldn’t be drunk while eating or right after eating – It slows digestion and could cause indigestion
3. Could increase nasal mucous thickness and make it more difficult for it to pass in the respiratory tract therefore making congestion* feel worse ( All this applies if you have a flu)
4. Could increase chance of causing migraines (to people who had migraines last year)
5. Could increase pain for people suffering from achalasia*

Bottom line:
There is no general guideline by government or anything of a sort on temperature of water we should drink
But there are some sure things:
1) Don’t drink cold water If: Right before during and right after a meal or if you have a flu or cold
2) Don’t drink hot water If: You’re after or during workout (As it makes body core temperature higher and affects your endurance and effectiveness) aswell as if it is hot outside as it could promote a heat stroke ( Again raises body core temperature, when it is already very high, plus increased chance of dehydration because it lowers thirst )
3) Benefits of water are above all
The most important is that you drink enough water, whether it is warm or cold is a second priority

I will make additional efforts to make the conclusion less vague, with completing more facts either by updating this post (If I do, I’ll let you know.)
Or publishing new ones
Hope you have benefited from what I have gathered by now

*achalasia – a health condition in which the muscle between the esophagus and stomach fails to open
*esophagus – a tube that transfers food between mouth and stomach
*congestion – an excessive or abnormal accumulation of blood or other fluid in a body part or blood vessel
