Here comes
A short cover of the story of David Goggins, read and be inspired.

David Goggins – childhood (1975-1999)

Born February 17, 1975 in Buffalo, New York, U.S.A. (Currently 44 years old)
Goggins has been a child to a violent father who was a pimp and used to hit him and his mother (In one case he knocked his mother out at the top of the stairs and dragged her down the stairs in front of 6 years old Goggins), on top of that Goggins was unable to read, stuttering and asthmatic.
He could have gave up and turned to drugs become obese and all other great things which usually describe people with similar backgrounds. Which he did, well the obese part for a short period but then see what happens.

David Goggins joins the USAF* (1994-1999)

Goggins had first applied to USAF* Pararescue at age 19, after failing two paper tests he had succeeded to enter the Pipeline (The pararescue training).

On week 6 out of 9 of the training he was diagnosed with sickle cell trait and had been told to stay home for a week, after the week he had been told by the doctor that he is permitted to return to the training, having three weeks left David told himself that it is not that much and that he could do it, but the commander had required him to complete the whole training from Day 1 since he missed a whole week, he broke and decided not to.

After falling out of the pipeline he joined and completed the training of the US Tactical Air Control Party also named TACP successfully. He had served there from 1994 till 1999 and has been released, thoughts of not passing the pararescue exams hadn’t left him and he had been gaining weight and became obese close to his release. Eventually hitting 297 pounds/134 kg after his release.

The journey to get to the Navy Seals ( 1999-2001 )

He started working at a roach spraying job and was very unhappy with his life. Then at some point he saw an ad on TV and decided to try out for navy seals.
In 2001 After losing 100 pounds weight within 3 months (now being 191 pounds/86 kg) in order to be fit for seal training and three attempts Goggins has passed BUD/S* and joined Class’s 235 Seal Team 5

Accomplishments ( 2005 – today )

In 2005 some of his friends died in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan and he began long-distance running in order to raise charity for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation*.

Since then he had participated in 54 races earning 21 trophies and succeeded in raising around 2 million dollars for the cause.
He had broken the world record for most pull-ups in 24 hours in 2013 completing 4030 pull-ups in 17 hours

He is also a motivational speaker performing before business forums, college campuses and professional sports teams.

Now he is retired since 2016 (source 9) and has continued racing, speaking and had written a book at 2018

My interaction with David Goggins

Ideally I would like to watch a motivation video everyday, for approximately 10 minutes. So, some of the videos I watched were by Goggins. I got interested in who he was and went on to search information about him.
I have consequently found out that he is a SEAL and ultramarathon runner. Quite an interesting guy, who’s story is apparently quite motivational to say the least.

Here’s an example motivation video of his:

Takeaway

Don’t let yourselves stay in your comfort zone!

That kid – Who had grown up being hit by his father. Was unable to read, was stuttering and developed asthma. If he could do those unbelievable things, than you most definately could too!
