Should you read The Boron Letters? – Maybe if you see why I rated it 89/100 it will help you decide.
Narration
It was a reading format, so there was no narration.
Plot
Is there a storyline? How connected is one Idea to the one before it?
Answer: I did not feel that anything Gary teaches was out of order. It feels very natural, with a logical sequence to it. 25/25
Heading Distribution
This rating does not apply here since the chapter headings are simply Chapter 1/Chapter 2 etc.
Drive For Implementation
How much does the book push you to apply its contents?
Visuals
Does it use images or other resources to transfer its message?
Answer: Almost no visuals. At least in the version on www.thegaryhalbertletter.com.
The only few are a table that Bond used to comment on Chapter 1 and some illustrations of letters as a rectangle to make the text in it stand out in Chapters 14, 16, 18 and 21 2/8
Direct Calls to Action
How often does the author prompt you to apply the ideas in the book?
Answer: All the time. 8/8
Providing Actual Specific Details
Can you actually apply the Ideas in the book without additional resources?
Answer: In the main post, I extracted 10 exercises from the book for us to apply as content creators, and this is only based on some of my insights, so the answer is yes. You can apply the ideas without additional resources.
Nonetheless, sometimes it may be unclear what needs to be done, because the book was written in the 1980’s and for copywriters (not specifically content creators).
This is where the main Boron Letters blog post may come in handy because It is an interpretation of the book made for content creators, and it is made more recently (2024). 8/9
Examples
How often are examples provided to explain a point, and how well do they portray the ideas?
Answer: Very often. And even in cases they’re not provided, everything is quite clear, apart for some 1980s info. 23/25
Content
How interesting/useful was the content?
Answer: I felt an urge to continue reading as if it was a novel. Regarding its usefulness, some parts are dated or require deeper research to understand how they apply today as stated earlier. Examples include the SRDS which is a book directory of leads, which today doesn’t exist as a book. Another is fasting [to have me really motivated to start fasting, I first needed to *listen to The Miracle of Fasting(which Gary refers to) and only then started]. 23/25
*Audiobook currently available just in Russian as far as I’m aware
